Storage concept of CanEasy

Basically, CanEasy stores all data in the workspace (.csm file). Only the data base is stored separately as a .candb file. The workspace is saved via the menu File save (or Save as) or by clicking on the floppy disc icon in the toolbar.

Configurations in CanEasy

Special configurations created via the core applications can additionally be stored in an external file. These configurations can be downloaded and used simultaneously by multiple users in their workspaces. The configurations of the following core applications could be exported/saved:

Trace Window (*.trc)

Signal Plot (*.plt)

Signal Monitor (*.smo)

User Panel (*.pnl)

Environment Variables (*.env)

A configuration can be saved via the context menu of the marked object. Likewise, a saved configuration can be loaded via the context menu entry Import of the respective tree entry (e.g. trace window). All panel settings, as well as the connected data base objects, are loaded. If a data base object cannot be found, it will be marked with a red "X" above the respective symbol. An imported configuration will be saved inside the workspace. If a configuration is imported renewed, it could be replaced in the workspace or inserted as new configuration.

Data base

When saving a workspace, CanEasy automatically stores the data base (.candb) inside the same directory. The file name of the data base is the same as the name of the workspace. Data bases can also be explicitly downloaded or stored in CanEasy via the context menu of the tree or menu entry data base.

Buses

Using the export function of a bus, a complete bus can be exported into a DBC file or an LDF file. At the same time, all ECUs, messages, signals, attributes and value tables of the buses are exported.

ECUs

Exporting an ECU into an NCF file is possible in LIN buses. This will export all settings, messages and signals assigned to the ECU.

Record

Using the context menu of the record tree entry, recordings (.celog) can be loaded or the current recording saved.

For further information, see record and replay.
