Available Hardware Interfaces

The following is a list of all hardware interfaces currently supported by CanEasy:

Vendor

Use case and setting

Schleißheimer GmbH

By default, the virtual CAN hardware adapter is selected as hardware type whenever a new CAN bus is created. This is a virtual hardware adapter provided internally by CanEasy.

By default, the virtual LIN hardware adapter is selected as hardware type whenever a new LIN bus is created. This is a virtual hardware adapter provided internally by CanEasy

Schleissheimer Virtual CAN IPC is a virtual hardware adapter provided internally by CanEasy. Additionally, an IPC channel can be entered inside the field "Device identifier". IPC is short for "Inter Process Communication"; using IPC, CAN data can be exchanged bi-directionally between different processes.

Kvaser AB

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware number identifies the individual hardware.

Hinweis Note:
In LIN mode, no sleep events are transmitted if the adapter operates in slave mode. Therefore, the bus state (awake, sleeping) cannot be displayed correctly in the bus management or the trace window. As a result, this adapter cannot wake the bus via the bus management. Checksums from the message settings are ignored.

MHS Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware serial number identifies the individual hardware.

NV Melexis SA

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware number identifies the individual hardware.

National Instruments

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware number identifies the individual hardware. This number can be set using the NI tool Measurement & Automation (MAX) .

Valid values are: CAN1, ..., CAN63

PEAK-System Technik GmbH

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware number identifies the individual hardware.

This hardware adapter does not support hardware timestamps. Therefore, CanEasy uses internal timestamps. More information can be found in the chapter Timestamps.

Softing AG

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware serial number identifies the individual hardware.

Hinweis Note: Installing a Softing CanCard2 on Windows XP

Using a workaround, the card can be used in Windows XP. In the windows registry, the interrupt must be deactivated for the CANcard:

In the registry editor, create a new key named "DisableInterrupt" in

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\cancardw".

Set the value of REG_WORD to "1".

As a result, the interrupt is deactivated and the card will be recognized without error.

Disadvantages:

Applications requiring an interrupt will not function. Therefore, depending on the application you want to use, this solution might not be feasible. The registry entry applies to all CAN-Cards – it should therefore be manually deleted or set to 0.

Vector Informatik GmbH

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware number identifies the individual hardware.

Internal simulates the bus communication via the virtual Vector bus driver.

Hinweis Note:
HW channels 0 and 1 are bridged. Therefore messages sent on channel 0 are received on channel 1 and vice versa.

IXXAT Automation GmbH

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware serial number identifies the individual hardware.

Letters and digits may be combined, e.g. "HW324821".

Intrepid Control Systems

Only one device can be used.

ETAS

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware serial number identifies the individual hardware.

Access works via the BOA API. The prerequisite is the installation of the BOA distribution package >= Version 1.3.

SysTec

Device identifier:

If several hardware adapters of the same type are used, the hardware serial number identifies the individual hardware.
