Simulate messages of real control units

For some test cases, it may be necessary to simulate messages from an existing, physical control unit.

Normally CanEasy prevents sending such messages. To send messages belonging to a real ECU, select "Allow simulation" from the context menu of a message.

This activates the send button of the CanEasy CAN panels, enabling editing messages and their signals.

If the selected message is a cyclic message, cyclic transmission is disabled by default.

If a message is simulated, received data is not stored in the database to prevent overwriting user inputs.

If you want to simulate all messages of a real control unit, open the the context menu of the control unit and select the entry "Allow simulation of messages".

If a simulated message is already defined, you can restore normal simulation mode by selecting the menu entry "Deny simulation of messages".

The same option is also available from the context menu of a user panel (see context menu of title bar).

The setting applies to all messages inside the panel.

Hinweis Note:
Simultaneously sending and simulating messages of physical control units can result in bus errors.

Therefore, a warning overlay icon for such messages is shown in the CanEasy tree.

In addition CanEasy does not store this setting in the workspace, therefore this setting must be reactivated after loading a workspace.
